Builds top players are running
These are read straight off creators’ in-game Workshop screens or from what they say in the video — not guessed. Dates matter: Bey Rivals had balance patches on Oct 26 and Oct 28, so anything older is marked.
| Layer (type) | Disc | Driver | Who runs it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surge Spriggan (Balance) | Jerk (Defense) | Xtreme | KingEgo, Oct 29 | Billed as “one of the best Spriggan builds”; Jerk adds defense to an aggressive layer |
| Halo Helios (Balance, left-spin) | Jerk | Xtreme | KingEgo, Oct 30 | Helios was buffed on Oct 26 and Oct 28 — see the tier list |
| Dire Drake (Attack) | Nine (Attack) | Xtreme | KingEgo, Oct 30 | All-in Attack: Attack disc plus the hardest-hitting driver |
| Kaiser Cerberon (Defense) | Infinity (Stamina) | Weight | Moobert, Oct 30 | Counter-time its moves (Chain Shoot / Chain Protection) and win by out-spinning; he reports a 10-game ranked win streak. Traits: Sturdy or Enduring III, Apex if you’re lucky — avoid Balance and Sharp |
| Vector Valkyra (Attack) | Magnum (Attack) | Xtreme, 5 stars | ItzVexo, Oct 25 — before the patches | Credited to “the number one Valkyra player”; Valkyra has since been buffed and cut back, so treat as dated |
The pattern: Xtreme on almost everything with an aggressive moveset; Jerk when you want the Bey to survive hits; an Attack disc (Nine, Magnum) for pure burst; Stamina parts (Infinity, Weight) for spin-finish Defense builds.
Discs and drivers worth chasing
- Xtreme (Mythic driver) — ATK 5, STA 8, SPD 12 on the Workshop screen; its SPACE move Xtreme Dash homes in on the rival and hits very hard but costs spin. Oct 28 nerf: −1 Speed, Xtreme Dash 5% softer — but the Oct 31 patch gave the Speed back (+1), while Jaggy lost 1 Speed. Still everywhere.
- Jerk (Defense disc) — paired with two different top layers in the same creator’s builds.
- Nine, Magnum (Attack discs) — for burst-focused Attack builds.
- Infinity (Stamina disc, +1 Stamina on Oct 28) + Weight (Epic driver) — the spin-finish route for Defense layers.
No one has published a disc or driver tier list with numbers behind it yet. The full parts list is on Beys (one creator’s Workshop shows 22 drivers rather than 21 — we’re checking).
Which starter to pick
You choose one of three in the tutorial:
| Starter | Type | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Vector Valkyra | Attack (Rare) | The most common pick and the most cited “best free starter” |
| Kaiser Cerberon | Defense (Legendary since Oct 25) | The sturdy option; Moobert’s Oct 30 build above makes it a real ranked Bey |
| Yonder Yggdrasil | Stamina | Fewest recommendations |
Honestly, it matters less than it looks: the current codes (25) plus the Evolution pre-launch login rewards (61) give 86 Spin Tickets — past the 60-spin Legendary pity (spin rates) — so most players have a better layer within the first hour. As NoobBlox put it on Oct 25: “whatever starter you pick doesn’t really matter.”
Building free-to-play
- Redeem every code first (codes) — BP, Spin Tickets, Lucky Spins and Trait Tokens.
- Press Equip Best, then merge duplicates into the parts you actually use; levels and stars beat a fresh low-level rare.
- Match disc and driver type to the layer before chasing rarity.
- Spend Lucky Spins on a good surname — Mythic if you can, Legendary is fine (surnames).
- Put Trait Tokens into your main Bey at the Trait Lab (traits).
- Earn BP from daily, weekly and season quests, and play real players — bots pay half (beginner guide).
